Matthew Pavilanis returns to the Junction
City Arts Council concert season with a marvelous piano
concert of works inspired by the night.
As Mr. Pavilanis states, "Piano composers
have utilized the night's mysterious and immaterial qualities
for the entier history of the instrument. All of the works
will highlight the dynamism of the piano, vivid shading of
color, and the poetic sensibilities of the instrument."
The program will include selections of
nocturnes by Frederic Chopin, Maurice Ravel’s virtuosic
Gaspard de la nuit, and Nikolai Medtner’s epic “Night Wind”
piano sonata. Free/donations welcomed for the artist.
Reception follows in the Great Hall.
