40th Anniversary Scandinavian Festival, August 10-13, 2000

Thursday's opening processional crosses Hwy. 99 and comes down 6th Avenue. The processional continues through the Festival and on towards Festival Park
The Children's Skandia dance group performs opening day. The new Farm Display is a great success. What a sight to see all those antique steam engines popping and chugging at once!
Arnie Anderson demonstrates how to make lefse, complete with samples at the end. Ableskievers are as much fun to watch being made as to eat. (Well, almost!)
Klepp Leikarring , a 25 member troupe visiting us this year from Norway thrilled a packed crowd with music and dance. The costume show is always a hit. Each person explains their costume, where it came from, and shows special features.
Skålmusik from Brainard, Minn., delighted audiences with authentic music, as well as giving wonderful stories about each piece. Outside the Art Building, Janet Harper demonstrates the art and skill of tatting.
Scandia Leikarring from Junction City performs "Little Man In A Fix", which, as always receives cheers and applause from the audience. Evening crowds enjoyed the mild weather that was appreciated throughout this year's. Festival..

The special 40th Anniversary Pageant, written and directed by David Vaughan, was a perfect end to each day and featured songs, dancing, and a slide show and commentary about the history of Junction City and the Scandinavian Festival.
